The Protestant town church in Wittenberge is a striking Neo-Gothic brick building, consecrated in 1872 after a predecessor building was demolished. The church is located on the southern edge of the old town near the Elbe and is known for its historic organ, the largest in western Brandenburg. Unusual for towns in the Mark, the church is not centrally located on the market square, but rather on the southern edge in the small old town.

Alternative to the dyke path if you want to get ahead quickly and don't feel like gravel + sheep, the cycle path next to the road is unfortunately badly damaged, the road itself is cleanly tarred and easy to ride but there are many cars (some with about 100 km/h) on the road (even on weekends)

Initially, the road is paved with interlocking concrete slabs, but the road is easy to ride. Then, it's a perfect glide along the top of the dike with excellent asphalt. Plus, the view of the Elbe and Havel rivers, as well as the beautiful floodplain landscape. A great section.

Despite the cobblestones, you should definitely roll past here on your road bike; it's only a stone's throw from the Elbe cycle path.

Truly impressive as you approach Wittenberge. The bridge has a truly monumental quality, yet blends well into the landscape. It has recently been reopened to cyclists.

At this point, the Elbe flows almost meditatively, accompanied by the beautiful floodplain landscape: perfect!

The confluence between the receiving waters and the Elbe is clearly more spectacular, but the actual Havel estuary is about 10 km further east near Quitzdöbel and is less visible.
