Margherita Mountain Hut – Mount Pegge

Highlight • Mountain Hut

Spectacular view that ranges from western Liguria to eastern Liguria.
At 775 m above sea level, Mount Pegge overlooks Rapallo and the entire Gulf of Tigullio.
It can be reached with a long, sometimes demanding climb from Rapallo station with a well-marked path. It is recommended to continue to the sanctuary of Montallegro along a spectacular easy ridge and then descend to Rapallo in the comfortable cable car

Along the upstream Prato della Cipolla you arrive at the refuge of the same name. Before the refreshment area, our route starts on the right on the obvious slope that goes up the ski slope. You pass a nice viewpoint that offers a different perspective on the Tooth of the Onion. Then, on the left, you will find the 007 trail sign which comes from the Sacchi bivouac. We continue to the right on the Aveto-Nure watershed, we ignore the deviation that leads to Lago Nero, then uphill we arrive at the summit of Monte Bue. On the left you can see the ruins of the arrival station of the old cable car that went up from Rocca d'Aveto, while on the right you can see the new renovated refuge and the second section of the chairlift that goes up from Prato della Cipolla. On clear days the landscape is grandiose, extending to the south over the entire Val d’Aveto and to the north over Prato Grande and Val Nure.

Black Lake

At 1541 m. at an altitude, a vast expanse of water immersed in the green of the forest mirrors the clouds on the blue sky. On the opposite side, the path continues towards the Zovallo Pass (1.05), while we, after having bypassed the banks of the oasis, retrace our steps on the way.

Monte Manico del Lume Summit

Highlight • Summit

In the direction of Rapallo, from here begins the trail for experts with safety chains. The approach has sometimes steep and rocky sections to be tackled with great caution. Very well marked trail. Absolutely not recommended with strong winds and poor visibility

Should have read some of the tips here lol. It's easy to go up if you're coming from Santuario Basilica di Nostra Signora di Montallegro but going down the other way is not for the faint of heart if it's foggy, windy and wet, let me tell you from experience. Almost pissed myself lol. If it's dry and you have a light backpack it's probably not as scary. If you mastered the few scary chain decents you can nope out to Chignero which is an easy path again luckily.

Stretch traveled from Rapallo to Recco. Beautiful, nothing complicated, just be used to walking on paths slightly more complex than the simple beaten track. Fun and beautiful landscape. Recommended!
