It's worth slowing down and looking at the architecture! 🏡🚴♂️As you pass through this place, it's worth slowing down for a moment. The Finnish houses are a piece of post-war Upper Silesian history. Pay attention to the characteristic, simple construction of the buildings and how charmingly they line the road. For cyclists: The street is quiet, car traffic is minimal here, and the surface allows for a very smooth ride. This is a great, atmospheric, and safe section for a leisurely ride, away from busy transit routes. An ideal place to catch your breath and take an interesting, unconventional photo from the route!

Finnish houses are a unique historical and architectural curiosity. This type of workers' colony emerged in Upper Silesia immediately after World War II (from the late 1940s). They were prefabricated wooden single-family houses imported from Finland in exchange for Polish coal deliveries. They were intended to serve as temporary housing for miners working in local mines, and have survived to this day, creating incredibly atmospheric settlements with a specific layout.

The Sanctuary of St. Valentine in Bieruń, called "Walencinek" by the locals, is a historic wooden church with a log construction. The exact date of its creation is unknown, and the first written mention of the church dates back to 1628. The main altar contains two paintings of St. Valentine, including an older one from 1722. In 2015, the church was elevated to the rank of an archdiocesan sanctuary.

The path around the reservoir is mostly paved with concrete slabs, so it's not a cyclist's dream... Fortunately, large sections are laid in such a way that there is a strip of bare earth/sand between the slabs in the middle, so you can stubbornly ride there, avoiding the slabs.

The complex, along with the adjacent park, is currently privately owned and is undergoing gradual renovation, which is why access to the interiors can be limited. The Palace and Park Complex in Tychy. However, it is perfectly visible from behind the fence and from Katowicka Street. It is an ideal place for a short stop and to take a souvenir photo against the backdrop of Tychy's history. Tyskie Brewing Museum.
