Finnish houses are a unique historical and architectural curiosity.
This type of workers' colony emerged in Upper Silesia immediately after World War II (from the late 1940s).
They were prefabricated wooden single-family houses imported from Finland in exchange for Polish coal deliveries. They were intended to serve as temporary housing for miners working in local mines, and have survived to this day, creating incredibly atmospheric settlements with a specific layout.

One of a few surviving Finnish house settlements. The settlement was built in the 1940s for employees of the local "Ziemowit" mine. A couple of houses have retained their practically original condition and appearance.
