At 7,862 feet, Kyhv Peak is one of the lower summits in the Provo foothills. The peak used to be named Squaw Mountain before the US government decided to remove offensive names from national landmarks and natural features in 2022. It is an uphill climb from car to summit, but it's nice to have some secluded mountain hiking without having to venture far out of town.

Utah Lake State Park is home to Utah's largest freshwater lake and a handful of recreational opportunities. There are some roads and trails on the property that are great for flatter running, and you don't have to pay an entry fee if you just run to the park (but you do have to pay to park your car there).

Rocky Canyon Trail is a really popular trail just outside of Provo, Utah. The canyon travels between Kyhv Peak (aka, Squaw Mountain) and Y Mountain and offers continuous views basically the entire way. The trail is definitely uphill on the way out, but it's pretty gradual and runnable at most times. Plus, the way down is a blast.

This is an official overlook on the Rock Canyon Trail, and it's a popular turnaround spot for a lot of people since the trail gets a little more crowded once you get to the campground a little further up the trail. This overlook offers views of Rock Canyon and the peaks behind the summits bordering the city.
