Anyone who reduces Höchst to its first impression (usually the train station, shopping street, or industrial park) does this city (a district of Frankfurt since 1971) a great injustice. The Schlossplatz, the old town, the castle itself, the Bolongaropalast, or the Main riverbank are a gem that most people do not associate with the name Höchst. Stroll through, breathe in history, drink Äppler (local apple cider), but do one thing: don't "leave it aside".

A beautiful spot on Earth and a wonderful example of successful renaturation! It should be a model!

The Main is, at about 527 kilometers, the longest right tributary of the Rhine. In Frankfurt, it reaches its full splendor before flowing into the Rhine about 30 kilometers further west near Mainz. It divides the city into two halves: the bustling center in the north and the cozier Sachsenhausen in the south.

Two headwaters: The Main originates near Kulmbach from the confluence of the White Main (Fichtelgebirge) and the Red Main (Franconian Jura). Length: It is approximately 527 kilometers long, making it the longest right-bank tributary of the Rhine. Federal States: It flows through Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg (a short stretch as a border), and Hesse. Mouth: It flows into the Rhine near Mainz-Kastel (Wiesbaden), opposite Mainz. Navigation and Significance Waterway: The Main is navigable for 384 kilometers and is a central European transport artery. Main-Danube Canal: Via this canal, the Main is connected to the Danube, enabling continuous navigation from the North Sea to the Black Sea. Locks: To compensate for the difference in altitude, there are a total of 34 stairsteps. Regions and Cities Important Cities: It passes through Bamberg, Schweinfurt, Würzburg, Aschaffenburg, Hanau, Offenbach, and Frankfurt am Main, among others. Landscapes: The Maindreieck and Mainviereck in Franconia are particularly famous for their viticulture. Cultural Significance Main Line: The river is often seen as a symbolic border between North and South Germany (the so-called "White Sausage Equator" line often runs conceptually here).

My personal highlight of today's tour through new areas! The renaturalized Sulzbach stream in the tranquil park (despite being in the heart of Frankfurt and adjacent to the A66 motorway) is truly inviting and perfect for relaxing and taking a breather. It's always amazing what hidden gems Frankfurt has to offer!
