Die Isenburg in Hattingen (Burg Isenberg) • Standort: Auf einem steilen Felssporn (Isenberg) oberhalb der Ruhrschleife zwischen Hattingen-Mitte und Niederbonsfeld. • Geschichte: Erbaut in den Jahren 1193 bis 1199 für Arnold von Altena. Nach dem Mord am Kölner Erzbischof durch Graf Friedrich von Isenberg wurde die Burg im Jahr 1225 zerstört. • Besonderheiten: • Freigelegte Ruinenreste einer der einst größten Burganlagen der Region. • Auf dem Gelände steht das Haus Custodis (erbaut um 1855), das ein kleines Museum beherbergt.
