CS
March 6, 2025, NRW Naturpark Hohe Mark: LandStreifer "Haard an der Grenze" (06.03.2025)

We started our short vacation with this LandStreifer - 2 days in the Hohe Mark Nature Park. A beautiful, unspectacular forest tour. Mostly on natural paths, but in between someone has also tipped gravel onto the path - it looks like it was drawn with a ruler (picture 16+17) ... you don't even need it 😒. When the world is greener again, this path will definitely be even more fun. - Text from the website: The access to your LandStreifer "Haard an der Grenze" begins at the hiking car park at "Mutter Wehner", this is where you start your tour: always straight ahead, through romantic forest areas, past open areas and back into the forest. A nice change that accompanies you. A first experience point on your way shows you which trees are the Haard's beacons of hope in times of climate change. Here grows an area with different tree species that were selected by foresters to be able to withstand extreme weather. Did you know that the Haard, with a total forest area of over 5,500 hectares, is the largest closed forest area in the forest belt through the Hohe Mark Nature Park? A beautiful, productive source for people who love nature. And what awaits you at the next experience point? A real "mess", that much is certain. Hike up there and see for yourself! On your LandStreifer you will come to the hilly country of the Haard. Here lies the "Schwarzer Berg" nature reserve. A magical place that preserves rare and endangered animal and plant species. Let yourself be surprised by the enchanted atmosphere and enjoy the view. The path leads you through the beautiful, varied landscape around the Brinksknapp nature reserve with the Haardsee. Originally the lake was a crater that developed into a body of water and became an important spawning ground for dragonflies and amphibians. It was declared a nature reserve in 1988. Take your time for your hike on the LandStreifer "Haard an der Grenze": There are interesting things to learn at experience and information points and on the forest promenade you can marvel, observe, look through, research, and much more. The comfortable benches ensure a nice rest with a good view. On a beautiful sunny day, my next LandStreifer went right through the Haard. I've already walked parts of the route, but not the original LandStreifer "Haard an der Grenze". But I got some great new impressions along the way and captured some of them in photos. I liked it and would love to do it again sometime.

🐻A beautiful mixed forest, frequent changes of direction on different surfaces, narrow and wide paths and above all: enjoy the peace of the forest... a recommended circular route and at the end of the tour: a stop at "Mother Wehner"! 😋👍 🐻****************************************🐻 https://www.hohe-mark-steig.de/landsreifer/landsreifer-haard-an-der-border/ "Hiking for beginners, nature lovers, last-minute hikers: Our LandStreifer "Haard an der Grenz" makes you want more. https://www.hohe-mark-steig.de/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/HMS_Landstreifer_Haard-an-der-Grenze_Flyer.pdf You hike 11.3 kilometers on leisurely paths through the south-eastern part of the Haard. Changing landscapes and exciting nature experiences accompany you, which the various experience and information points report on: Here in the Haard, for example, a "climate avenue" is growing from tree species of the future, a stag beetle cradle ensures the preservation of a beetle that has become rare and a high seat invites you to observe wild animals like a hunter. You can look at everything from a different perspective. Who knows, you might catch a glimpse of a deer. Do you have your camera with you? The next Landstreifer. I've been in this area many times, but it's always different and beautiful there. The signage with the purple Landstreifer signs is complete, the tour is short but offers a lot of forest floor under your soles.🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️🌞⚒️

With this fantastic weather, we're off on another country stroll today to enjoy the beautiful landscape between the Ruhr area and Münsterland. Sometimes with leaves, sometimes with pine needles underfoot – sometimes on narrow, root-strewn paths, sometimes on wide, roughly gravelled tracks – we make our way through endless, beautiful, light-filled forests. In the Brinksknapp nature reserve, we particularly enjoy the idyllic lake, its thin ice reflecting the sun so beautifully. The last 4 km or so, straight ahead on the wide Haard border trail, aren't quite as foot-friendly. But the lovely views across the expansive clearings and the wood carvings along the way more than make up for it. This is our 5th country stroll 🤩 – certainly not the last! Have a wonderful Sunday!

On election Sunday, I chose the Haard. As expected, it was full, but away from the main paths it was also nice and quiet. It was wonderful to be able to walk without a jacket again.

After a long absence, it was finally time for a delicious waffle at Mother Wehner's again. So we set off and hiked the Haard country trail along the border. Everything went perfectly; it was a peaceful and beautiful hike. As always in the Haard. And to top it all off, the waffle at Mother Wehner's – absolutely perfect! 🥾🥾⚒️

Today we met up for a group hike through the Haard region🤗🐾👣. The weather forecast was much worse, but we were lucky and made it through the "Landreifer - Haard an der Grenze" relatively dry. This tour is a well-marked circular trail that begins at the "Mutter Wehner" restaurant at a large hiking parking lot. 👍🏻 Of course, there was ☕🧇😋 at the end....
