The Dobratsch or Villacher Alpe (Slovene: Dobrač or Beljaščica) is a 2,166 m above sea level mountain range in Carinthia. It forms the eastern foothills of the Gailtal Alps and is located immediately west of the city of Villach.[1] The Dobratsch area has been protected as a nature park since 2002.[2] As a model region for sustainable development, the focus from the outset has been on a four-pillar model with the themes of protection, education, recreation, and regional development. At the end of 2021, research was added as a fifth pillar for the further development into Nature Park Z.[3] The Dobratsch Nature Park covers an area of approximately 8,200 hectares.
