The Wullebos is located on a former sand drift ridge and is 69 hectares in size. The name comes from "wulle", meaning "long-eared owl". The Abelebeek and Wullebosbeek streams run through the forest, both in a northerly direction. The Papdijk, built in 1691, also runs through the area. A checkerboard pattern of avenues is present both in the forest and in the agricultural area to its south. It indicates reclamation in the second half of the 18th century. The agricultural area was deforested in the course of the 19th century, preserving the checkerboard structure. The Baggaarthof is located in the area, around which numerous ghost stories circulate. source: Wikipedia

The Zuidlede, a winding watercourse coming from Mendonk, flows together here with the canalized Moervaart. From this confluence point, the (Upper) Durme flows via Lokeren and Waasmunster to Tielrode, where it flows into the Scheldt. The area around the confluence is a valuable, European protected Natura 2000 area.

A singletrack right next to the water. Only suited for gravel- and mountainbikers with some technical experience. But be careful when the mud is wet, because the track gets very slippery (and is banked slightly toward the water).

With some skill and caution you will enjoy this piece of off-road. Be careful, gravel is very loose in some places.

You cycle through dense forests, where the trees provide shade and the surface is often somewhat variable with roots and loose stones. A nice single track for MTB'ers!
