The modern summit cross stands a short distance from the highest point of the Geschriebenstein, where the popular viewing tower is enthroned instead. It is made of aluminum, firmly anchored to a rock, and can be reached relaxed during a leisurely hike through the nature park. Incidentally, the border between Austria and Hungary runs directly over this historic border point.

In the immediate vicinity of the well-known Lockenhaus Castle in the district of Oberpullendorf, the renovated Paulusbrunnenbrücke bridge ensures an important connection. This popular crossing for hikers and cyclists has been completely renewed to optimally reconnect the path between Geschriebenstein and Burgsee. In addition, smaller wooden bridges in the municipality, such as the Auwiesenbrücke, are regularly maintained and kept in good condition with fresh planks.

The Margarethenwarte near Lockenhaus is a 31-meter-high wooden observation tower located in the heart of the Geschriebenstein Nature Park. Once at the top, a brilliant panoramic view awaits you, stretching from the Bucklige Welt across the Schneeberg to Lake Neusiedl in good weather. The structure is a great destination for a relaxing hike and can be easily incorporated into an excursion through the region's forests.

The Esterházy Trail entrance in the Oberpullendorf district near Lockenhaus marks the starting point for a really cool flow trail in the middle of the Geschriebenstein Nature Park. The route winds its way through nature over eight kilometers and offers a lot of riding fun, especially in the lower part with a few cool jumps and berms. Because the upper section starts off more leisurely, both relaxed touring riders and families get their money's worth here.

At the Geschriebenstein Pass summit in the district of Oberpullendorf, the local chapel serves as a well-known and popular starting point for excursions into nature. Directly after the small house of worship, numerous hiking trails and mountain bike trails begin. In addition, the impressive state memorial of Burgenland, which architecturally also resembles a chapel, is located very close by.

The Geschriebenstein pass height is located at 802 meters above sea level in the Günser Gebirge mountains and connects the towns of Lockenhaus and Rechnitz as a road crossing. At the same time, this crossing serves as a perfect and popular starting point for leisurely hikes and bike tours up to the nearby summit of the Geschriebenstein, which at around 882 to 884 meters represents the highest elevation in Burgenland. Directly on site, the state memorial, designed in 1961, also commemorates the victims of the two world wars.

The Burgenland Trails parking lot Ranch is considered the central main starting point for the popular mountain bike trails around the Geschriebenstein. There you will find plenty of parking spaces for your car, and the official shuttle for bikers also ends there. From this spot, you can start directly into crisp downhill descents like the Rechnitz Trail or head upwards.

The parish and pilgrimage church of St. Nicholas in Burgenland is an impressive baroque house of worship, especially valued for its artistic furnishings and spiritual significance. Visitors will find a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere here, which is great for pausing and discovering the historical details. Thanks to its central location in the town, the church is also a great starting point for exploring the surrounding region.
