Embark on the Trezeni Trail, a moderate hiking route that spans 7.7 miles (12.5 km) and features an elevation gain of 1121 feet (342 metres). You can expect to complete this journey in about 3 hours and 39 minutes. As you hike, you will experience a diverse Mediterranean landscape, with paths winding through forests and scrubland, offering continuous panoramic views of the sea, the Amalfi Coast, and even the island of Capri from viewpoints like the one overlooking Santa Maria di Castellabate. The terrain is mostly unpaved, natural, and gravel surfaces, providing an authentic outdoor experience.
When planning your visit, be aware that while the trail is generally considered moderate, some sections, especially the final 200 meters to Punta Tresino, can be challenging due to exposure, overgrown vegetation, and unstable ground. Sturdy shoes and appropriate trekking clothing are highly recommended for your safety and comfort. Parking is usually available in Lago or nearby areas, but you should be prepared for less-maintained paths in certain parts of the route.
This loop hike is nestled within the Cilento, Vallo di Diano e Alburni National Park, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and historical intrigue. A significant highlight along the way is the atmospheric abandoned hamlet of San Giovanni, which adds a distinct historical dimension to your journey. The route provides a rewarding experience for hikers seeking varied terrain and captivating scenery within this protected natural area.

Along the Trezeni trail, near Punta Tresino, the "La Panoramica" trail begins. It leaves the coastal path and heads towards Monte Tresino. Extreme caution is required: you must proceed along very small switchbacks that lead upward. Vegetation often blocks the path, and the terrain is slippery and exposed. You must continue like this for about 250-300 meters. Then, the slope eases, but vegetation can completely obstruct the trail, forcing you to find alternative routes through Mediterranean scrub, brambles, and undergrowth. We spent more than half an hour rejoining the trail, which was 20 meters away but completely inaccessible due to the thick vegetation.

On the way back down the mountain, I asked myself if this little detour was worth it. The answer: yes.

The hike is very beautiful. On the other hand, the path from point 4 which goes down to the sea is impassable, slippery, steep and not maintained or almost disappeared. At the bottom, pick up the GR which goes from Agropoli to Santa Maria. It is better to make the detour on the real GR.

This path is simply beautiful, hiking shoes helpful, water shoes useful, many sea accesses, but very rocky and possibly sea urchins
