The neighborhood has been almost completely uninhabited since the 1976 earthquake, though some houses are still inhabited. The village is accessible only by a path (on foot, a suitable motorcycle, or by mule), served by electricity and water; sometimes a helicopter is needed to transport supplies.

A steep climb, the surface is initially compact, but higher up there's a section with steps that are difficult to negotiate. Rarely exposed, the trail has several switchbacks that break up the pace.

This is a small votive chapel located in a fork on the CAI 420/421 trail leading to the summit of Monte Monticello. This fork is located at approximately 920 meters above sea level, along the descent from Monticello, and is characterized by the presence of a crucifix or a book for passage stamps, typical elements of small votive chapels in Alpine environments.
