A lovely little village. Unfortunately, there's no cafe or restaurant, so the narrow road is hardly worth the drive. The paths over the ridge above are used as a motocross track and are accordingly worn out!

A very beautiful village in the middle of the mountains

Boscomare is one of those villages that seem to have come straight from a fairytale: small, secluded, caressed by the sea breeze and the scent of lavender that once completely blanketed its slopes. Today, this lavender has bloomed again, proudly, thanks to the passion and determination of its residents, who do not want to lose the scents of the past. Boscomare is a beautiful, typically Ligurian village, beautifully restored, largely due to its foreign owners. The central square is an architectural marvel and a source of tranquility. It has nothing to envy of the much more famous villages in Provence; in fact, there's a decidedly less overtouristic atmosphere here.

There are 19 dedicated no-traffic touring cycling routes around Sanremo, catering to various skill levels. You'll find 5 easy routes, 6 moderate, and 8 more challenging options.
The primary no-traffic route is the Sanremo–San Lorenzo al Mare Cycle Path, also known as the Coastal Cycle Path. It's largely flat and built on a former railway line, offering continuous scenic views of the Mediterranean. While this guide focuses on no-traffic routes, the broader Sanremo region also offers more challenging terrain in the Ligurian Alps for those seeking climbs.
Yes, the Coastal Cycle Path is ideal for families and cyclists of all fitness levels. Its flat, car-free nature makes it very safe and enjoyable, with numerous opportunities to stop at beaches or charming coastal villages along the way.
Sanremo's mild climate allows for year-round enjoyment of its cycling routes. However, spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) offer the most pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds, making them ideal for touring cycling.
The Coastal Cycle Path offers stunning views of the Riviera dei Fiori and the Mediterranean Sea. You'll pass through picturesque beaches and charming coastal towns. Notable highlights along the path include the San Lorenzo Tunnel and the Old Railway Tunnel of Ospedaletti, which are unique parts of the cycling experience.
Absolutely. The Coastal Cycle Path connects several charming coastal towns and villages like Ospedaletti, Arma di Taggia, Riva Ligure, Santo Stefano al Mare, and San Lorenzo al Mare. Many of these offer cafés, restaurants, and gelaterias where you can take a break and enjoy local treats.
The komoot community highly rates the cycling experience in Sanremo, with an average score of 4.5 stars from 648 ratings. Reviewers often praise the stunning coastal views, the safety and tranquility of the car-free path, and the convenience of connecting charming towns.
While the main Coastal Cycle Path is linear, connecting towns like Ospedaletti and San Lorenzo al Mare, you can create loop experiences by combining sections of the path with local roads in the towns themselves, or by using public transport to return to your starting point after an out-and-back ride.
The Coastal Cycle Path is easily accessible from various points in Sanremo and the surrounding towns. Local bus services often run parallel to the path, allowing you to reach different starting points or return from your destination. Some services may accommodate bicycles, but it's advisable to check with the local transport provider for specific routes and bike policies.
The Coastal Cycle Path can be popular, especially during peak season. For a potentially less crowded experience, consider cycling during off-peak hours (early mornings or late afternoons) or in the shoulder seasons (spring and autumn). The sections further away from Sanremo city center, towards Ospedaletti or San Lorenzo al Mare, might also offer a more tranquil ride.
Parking is generally available in the towns along the Coastal Cycle Path, such as Sanremo, Ospedaletti, and San Lorenzo al Mare. Look for designated parking areas near the path access points. Some towns may have paid parking, especially closer to the city centers or popular beach areas.
