A Roman bathhouse once stood here, the remains of which can be seen in the basement. Only a part of the original 12th-century church remained after the great city fire in 1689. The church then received its present form in the Baroque period, and essential parts of the Baroque interior design can still be seen today. The ceiling paintings, in particular, are impressive.
