Directly after or before the Umbrail Pass, you'll come to the turnoff to the Umbrail Pass in Val Müstair. Right next to the road, you can fill your water bottle and cool off a bit at the fountain.

This cafe in Santa Maria Val Müstair does a range of savoury and sweet food including superb strudel! However, this isn’t the most impressive feature. Kindness was! We arrived there borderline hypothermic after a dreadful descent of the Umbrail Pass in freezing cold rain. The owner immediately fetched some warm dry hoodies for the worst of us and the staff were very quick to bring us the hot drinks & food we ordered as we shivered & dripped in their immaculately clean cafe. We stayed for more than an hour to get properly warm & allow the rain to clear through & there were no complaints at all from the staff (we did eat & drink lots whilst there 😁). Make this your no 1 stopping point in Sta Maria 👌
