Historical origin: The small, idyllic country chapel is a listed cultural monument and bears the year 1741. It thus dates directly from the mid-18th century and testifies to the deep-rooted Baroque folk piety in the region. Location on the cycle path: The chapel is located directly on the busy cycle and hiking route between the Flörsheim town area and the Keramag-Falkenberg settlement. It is situated not far from the historical lime kilns and the transition to the Hochheim vineyards on the Main cycle path (R3). The „Quintuplet” at the southwest entrance of Verna Park (near Palais Verna on Frankfurter Straße) is a striking metal sculpture by Rüsselsheim artist Uwe Wenzel, which was officially inaugurated in December 2023. The artwork depicts a detailed replica of a historic five-seater bicycle (tandem for five people). The four-meter-long model was crafted from blackened stainless steel, while the saddles, pedals, and handlebars are made of brownish-patinated bronze. To create an everyday, almost accidental impression, the rideable art object is seemingly unsecured, leaning against a specially installed stainless steel lantern that illuminates the object from above at night. Behind the monument lies a famous anecdote from Rüsselsheim's industrial history: the artwork is inspired by the historic five-seater bicycle of the Opel family. Before automobile production, Opel was one of the largest bicycle manufacturers in the world. A legendary advertising photo from 1898 shows the five sons of the company founder Adam Opel – Carl, Wilhelm, Heinrich, Fritz, and Ludwig (all successful racing cyclists) – together on exactly such a Quintuplet. The sculpture today serves as a charming street art memorial, recalling the city's founder era's passion for cycling, while also functioning as the official starting point for the Rüsselsheim cycling route „Kunst am Weg“ (Art along the Way).
