Around 5 km from Follonica we find the beach of Carbonifera. It owes its name to the ancient hydraulic station built in 1870 for the reclamation of the area. The small tower of the station together with the small pier are the reference points of this enchanting beach nestled in the uninterrupted sandy coastline that rises from Follonica up to Piombino. You can leave the car in an equipped parking lot, reach the sea on foot and choose between free beach and equipped beach. The sand is light and fine, the shallow water suitable for children offers spectacular plays of light and color. The pine forest behind offers a pleasant relief on the hottest days.

The Pratoranieri beach is one of the most famous seaside resorts in Follonica, known for its golden sand, crystal-clear water, and a conformation that makes it perfect for both family holidays and water sports enthusiasts. Pratoranieri is less than 5 km from the center of Follonica, and is easily reachable on foot and by bicycle, also thanks to a stretch of pedestrianized coastline and a cycle path. The shore, made of fine golden sand, is narrow and long in the perfect style of Follonica's beaches, mostly free; only a small part is dedicated to bathing establishments, where it is possible to rent water sports equipment. Green Flag Beach, an award for beaches suitable for children in terms of safety and services. This stretch of coast has also obtained the Blue Flag for the clarity and cleanliness of its waters.
