A commemorative plaque for the teen/internet hype of 2025, "Six-Seven." Of course not. In reality, just a signpost pointing to one of thousands of similar routes...

The road from Welpe to Füchtel leads over the Thekla Bridge. An old alder tree next to the bridge bears an image of St. Thekla. Nine head of cattle once died of an epidemic in the nearby pastures, whereupon the owner of Füchtel placed the image of St. Thekla there. Others say that a single woman named Thekla once drowned near the Thekla Bridge, after which a canon from Füchtel placed the image. (Brothers of the squire of Füchtel, who held canon positions elsewhere, often stayed for extended periods at the estate.)

Yes, dogs are generally allowed. However, as Boller Moor Und Lange Lohe is a nature reserve with sensitive ecosystems and significant birdlife, it is crucial to keep dogs on a leash at all times to protect the wildlife and ensure a pleasant experience for everyone.
The reserve is characterized by its extensive wet and moist grasslands, as well as significant bog areas. You'll encounter waterways like the Dadau and Moorkanal. While largely open, solitary trees provide perching spots for birds. It's an excellent spot for birdwatching, with opportunities to observe meadow birds and even resting Whooper and Tundra Swans.
Yes, many of the family-friendly trails are circular, offering convenient starting and ending points. For example, the Boardwalk Through the Moor – Moor View loop from Aschener Moor is an easy 6 km circular hike that provides a great experience of the moorland.
Spring and early autumn are often ideal. In spring, you can witness the awakening of nature and observe migratory birds. Early autumn offers pleasant temperatures and beautiful colors. Summer can also be lovely, but be prepared for potential sun exposure in the open moorland. Winter can be peaceful but might be very wet or cold.
While the terrain is generally flat, the presence of wet grasslands and bogs means not all paths are suitable for standard strollers. However, some routes, especially those with boardwalk sections, might be more accessible. The Boardwalk Through the Moor – Moor View loop from Aschener Moor offers a good option for easier walking.
Parking is typically available at various entry points to the nature reserve. Specific parking areas are often designated near trailheads, such as around Aschener Moor. It's advisable to check the starting point of your chosen route for the most convenient parking options.
Given the wetland environment, waterproof footwear is highly recommended, especially after rain or in damper seasons. Layered clothing is always a good idea, as weather conditions can change. Sun protection (hat, sunscreen) is important due to the open landscape, and insect repellent can be useful, particularly in warmer months.
While the nature reserve itself is focused on conservation, you can find amenities in nearby villages and towns. It's a good idea to pack snacks and drinks for your hike, especially with children. For more substantial meals or cafes, you would typically need to drive a short distance outside the immediate reserve area.
The area is highly rated by the komoot community, with an average score of 4.5 stars. Reviewers often praise the peaceful atmosphere, the unique moorland landscape, and the opportunities for birdwatching. Many highlight the well-maintained paths and the chance to reconnect with nature away from crowds.
