Usually there is one, occasionally two, named saints who exercise the patronage over a church - and at the same time over the associated congregation. However, a different decision was made for this church in Theresienstadt: it was not dedicated to one of the - almost infinitely many - saints, but to Jesus Christ himself. And specifically to his resurrection. This special and rare patronage broadens the Christian view from Good Friday to the Easter perspective of hope: suffering and death are not the end, but are overcome in the infinite love of the triune God with the resurrection to eternal life.

The largest preserved fortress is the Terezín fortification, named after Maria Theresa. Its construction was decided in 1780. Its construction type belongs to the so-called Mezier Fortification School. During construction, two villages had to be evicted and even the mouth of the Ohře river had to be moved.

Terezín Fortress is one of the best-preserved and largest bastion fortresses in the world. But its walls do not tell the stories of war battles. Today, they are mainly a reminder of the Nazi reign of terror, which brought suffering and death to tens of thousands of people in the Terezín internment camp
