From the Nannycatch Gate, the path follows for about a kilometer the bed of the Nannycatchbeek, which defines the landscape here.

Can be a bit of a rat run at certain times of the day as Sellafield workers finish their shifts and try and avoid the horrors of the A595.

Standing at 315m Ponsonby Fell isn't really spectacular but its wide slightly boggy summit feels wild, you're unlikely to see anyone else and the views are good. The actual summit with a small cairn is off the path to the west and marked on OS maps.

The fell road between Calder Bridge and Ennerdale Bridge passes the small but impressive stone circle at Kinniside, below Blakeley Rise. The circle has been reconstructed, with some cast in concrete, and is formed from eleven stones with a diameter of 18 metres. The tallest stone is 1.15 metres high. Stunning views to Whitehaven and into the Lakes.

I did this hill as I was staying in Egremont hiking anything with a slope in the Lake District. Anyway it was a rainy day so I thought I would knock off Dent. Dent at 352m is a UK designated Marilyn and is a nice hill. It would have fine views on a sunny day especially towards Grike and the high peaks around Ennerdale. No access issues and a forest walk in and out but a nice fell top with good views and a cairned summit. This is Dent's West Top which is lower at 346m but not only has it a bigger cairn than Dent proper but it has two of them?
