Probably one of the most beautiful moated castles in the Lower Rhine. The first part of the castle was probably built around the year 1,000. It was rebuilt several times. Dr. Maximilian Reichsgraf von Spee donated the castle to the city of Ratingen in 1972. In 1973, the architect Bruno Lambert took over and completely expanded it. There is a restaurant in the castle with an attached knight's cellar. There is an outdoor swimming pool and some paths for walking in the immediate vicinity.
