Tips from the Community

MS 🚴‍♂️
May 24, 2026, Bad Brückenau

Even in the time of Charlemagne, a "military road of spear's width" crossed the Sinn at the site of today's Bad Brückenau, and the first farmers probably settled at this ford. Towards the end of the 12th century, a larger settlement emerged, which was named Sinn-Aue due to its location. The place was first mentioned in a document in 1249, when the Diocese of Fulda granted Sinn-Aue various privileges based on the model of Gelnhausen. In 1597, a stone bridge was built over the Sinn at the site of today's Sinnbrücke below the Kleinen Steinbusch. The place owes its name Brückenau to this bridge. The bridge narrowly escaped demolition in the final days of World War II and was replaced by a modern concrete bridge in the 1960s. Source: Wikipedia

Above the town center stands the Catholic parish church. The first church was built on this site around 840. After several reconstructions, the current church was built in 1783 in the Baroque style, but had to be rebuilt after the town fire of 1876. Inside, the church houses several historical sculptures.

Baron von Crailsheim once took care of getting Brückenau connected to the railway network. Unfortunately, no trains run there anymore.

Near the Sinn Bridge stands the photogenic old town hall. Some information for visitors can be found in front of it.

Anything that might have reminded us of the narrow-gauge railway has since been removed, including the railway bridge. However, you can still cross via a bike path.
