The Prerower Strom, Prerow-Strom, or Prerowstrom is a body of water on the Bodden coast of Fischland-Darß-Zingst, which largely separates the Darß from the Zingst peninsula. It begins at the island of Schmidtbülten in the Bodstedter Bodden and winds northwestward from there almost to the (outer) Baltic Sea coast at Prerow Bay. Shortly before its northern end lies the inland port of the eponymous town of Prerow. The Prerower Strom is part of the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park. The new pier in Prerow (Vorpommern-Rügen district) has quickly become a real visitor magnet. Since its opening on October 16th of last year, more than 100,000 visitors have come to see the structure up close. Visitors are now recorded using an electronic counter. At 720 meters, the Prerow pier is the longest on the Baltic coast. At its end is the horseshoe-shaped new island harbor. It offers space for fishing boats, pleasure craft, and the sea rescue cruiser "Nis Randers." For walkers, there is a large viewing terrace on the harbor building at the bridgehead. From there, visitors can look across the Baltic Sea to Hiddensee.
