An absolute highlight – the cradle of “old” Schweinfurt!

The Schindturm has been beautifully restored and thanks to the roof you can also take shelter when it rains. The information board tells a bit of history. The place is easy to incorporate into hikes along the Mainleite!

Not only does it offer a beautiful view of the Peterstirn hill, the Main Valley, and Schweinfurt, but it's also a place steeped in history. Here you can imagine what it must have looked like around a thousand years ago during the time of the Margraves of Schweinfurt and what events took place back then. Or you can tell the legend of the "Hacked-Out Frogs"—that's fun too!

Unfortunately, all that remains are the remains of the beautiful oak trees after which the entire forest is named. The older ones among us can quickly look at the pictures here from when there were still "school desks" in the shade of the trees and it was a popular destination for "hiking days".
