The lake lies at 419 m above sea level and has a surface area of 24 km². Its greatest depth is 151 m. Due to its unique location (in the middle of a valley with steep slopes up to 1,000 m high on both sides), the water temperature of Lake Walensee is several degrees cooler than that of neighboring lakes.
