Hiking

This hike takes you along the shores of the beautiful Walensee from Weesen to Quinten. The unique section is called because of the mild climate and the Mediterranean vegetation also Riviera: Between vines and fig trees you walk on turquoise shimmering lake through the magnificent landscape.

It starts at the Postautohaltestelle "Weesen, See", where there is also a public parking lot. Past the harbor, you wander through the tranquil town of Weesen. Soon you leave the houses behind you and follow our route along the Riviera.

The path is just above the water level and leads through rocky tunnels past small bathing beaches. A worthwhile stop is the bathing area in Betlis with its expansive meadows. Here you can cool off and enjoy the impressive panorama. You also have the opportunity to visit the remains of the castle ruin Strahlegg.

After about five kilometers you come to the Seerenbach Falls: In three cascades, the water masses overcome incredible 585 meters. The spray is a pleasant refreshment and the roaring water an impressive spectacle. The view from the trail over the Walensee is breathtaking.

After visiting the Seerenbach Waterfalls, a climb follows a well-navigable path through the Seerenwald. Down to Quinten is a bit steeper but well secured piece to overcome. The idyllic Quinten is one of the few car-free villages in Switzerland and impresses with its magnificent location between the Walensee and the cliffs of the Churfirsten.

Back to Weesen or to other stops at Walensee you will arrive by boat. From the water you can enjoy a different perspective on the great landscape.

Betlis Beach on Lake Walen

Highlight • Beach

A beautiful bathing area with a lawn and large trees that provide pleasant shade. The water of the Walensee is just incredibly clear and blue. The perfect place for warm summer days.

Seerenbach Falls

Highlight • Waterfall

In front of the falls is a viewpoint. But it's worth walking up. The path to get there is a bit muddy and the steps are high, but at the top you get much closer and can experience the falls better.

Quinten

Highlight • Settlement

I would rather travel from Quinten to Weesen, as I feel the rocky descent to Quinten more difficult than the climb.

The route up to the Seerenbach Falls is also suitable for beginners. After reaching the peak (710m elevation), it descends very steeply. Surefootedness, sturdy shoes with a tread, and strong knees (mine aren't 😬) are recommended. For those with knee problems, I would recommend the reverse route: a steep climb for about an hour, followed by a leisurely descent. I …

It was wonderful to wake up in Quinten after a great dinner, accompanied by impressive Quintner wines, and to experience the morning atmosphere on Lake Walen, bordered by sunlit mountains. The breakfast was in no way inferior to everything. A big thank you to Johnny and Alain for the great care in Tremondi. Then a tough climb and slow descent …

Today I did the first tour of the 2022 season. The route above Lake Walen has been on my list for a while.
I started in the best weather in Weesen am See. The path initially runs along an asphalt road.
In Betlis the path climbs slowly, at the chapel above the view is magnificent.
From there, the signpost goes …

3 hours in total, to Quinten by boat (very nice!), very strenuous and steep at the beginning but probably better than walking the part downhill, Quinten is really cute and a really great hike, from Weesen or Fli the bus runs every half hour

Sure-footedness and a head for heights are required for the steep descent to Quinten. Otherwise they are easy, wide paths. Again and again with a wonderful view of Lake Walen and the surrounding mountains. Sunny hike with alternating forest sections and in between you can admire the beautiful Seerenbach waterfall 🥰

Nice hike in mild weather with a longtime friend along the Walensee.
By the way, I didn't swim or dive, apparently my Komoot ventured into the lake on its own.
