Tunnel with a View of Lake Walen (Walensee)

Highlight • Structure

It should be noted that the way from Weesen towards Beetlis is at risk of falling rocks. A little caution is helpful at best. (see impacts in the asphalt ...)

The tunnel is cool and a bit wet, as water is dripping from the ceiling. It's possible to go without a flashlight; if you feel more comfortable, pack one. The view from the peepholes is fantastic.

In Romansh, the lake is called Lag/Lac Rivaun. Accordingly, it was first documented in 843 as lacu riuano.

Betlis Beach on Lake Walen

Highlight • Beach

A beautiful bathing area with a lawn and large trees that provide pleasant shade. The water of the Walensee is just incredibly clear and blue. The perfect place for warm summer days.

Relaxing Sunday walk after yesterday's mountain tour along Lake Walen to the Seerenbach Falls.

There is a lot going on there on weekends and parking spaces are rare - if you are looking for peace and quiet, please choose another day 😉❣

On today's departure day, there was only a walk to the Seerenbach Falls. The three-tiered, 585-meter-high waterfall is currently just a trickle. The hike was still worth it.

Wonderful route with beautiful views and lots of nature.

A comfortable classic hike, there are various parking spaces along the lake, but they are often full early on. They are also ruinously expensive, but that is probably due to the beautiful location :-)

Unfortunately, none of the barbecue areas along the way have any wood, so that basically loses a point. You could use some of the parking fees …

Finally sunshine after the rainy days. A wonderful path. With a view of Lake Walen and the surrounding mountains. The way there leads along the lower Betliser Straße with a view of the ruins and the way back along the upper Betliser Straße past beautiful courtyards and gardens. There are many benches where you can take a break.
