Wirsberg also owes its historical significance to this crossing over the Schorgast. Located on important trade routes, such as the connection between Nuremberg, Plauen, and Leipzig, simple wooden bridges had been built here repeatedly in the past. However, these were often damaged or destroyed by floods, ice drift, and the massive wear and tear from heavy wagons, which transported copper ore, among other things. At the beginning of the 18th century, it was decided to build a stone bridge here. The Schorgast Bridge, which can be seen here today and which the locals call "Wernersbruck", was built in 1711 as a two-span sandstone ashlar bridge. In 1995 and 1996, it was extensively renovated by the district of Kulmbach and the market town of Wirsberg to preserve a historical piece of Wirsberg's history.

The Baroque Steinenhausen Castle was once owned by the von Guttenberg family, who sold it in 1935. In 1987, the castle became the property of the Free State of Bavaria. Today, the Kulmbach branch of the Bavarian State Office for the Environment is located in the building. An avenue of fruit trees has been planted along the driveway to the castle. The gardens are used for measuring equipment and small-scale nature conservation projects.

A mill "at the stone house" was first mentioned in 1316. This is the first documented mention of the place. The mill, of which only a few walls remain today, was twice destroyed by major fires. In September 1923, a fire broke out on the top floor of the then state-of-the-art mill. The local fire brigades tried to request a motorized pump from Kulmbach – unfortunately, their calls went unanswered, and the delay led to the complete destruction of the mill's equipment. After the major fire, the mill was modernized again by the owners in 1958. Then, in July 1962, another major fire broke out. When the fire brigades arrived, several parts of the mill were already engulfed in flames. Despite the valiant efforts of the firefighters and the use of a new turntable ladder, the mill burned to the ground.
