The classic cycle path in the Upper Palatinate Forest takes you over around 90 kilometers from Luhe-Wildenau to the gates of Regensburg - mostly along the natural course of the Naab. Probably the most striking feature are the numerous castles along the route, for example Lengenfeld Castle or the Kallmünz castle ruins. This cycle path is only difficult because of its overall length. If you don't want to cycle the entire route in one day, you can stop for the night in Schwandorf, for example.
Historic towns on the Naab also make this tour a cultural highlight. In Nabburg, for example, the medieval old town is almost completely preserved and worth a visit. During a short trip to the Oberpfälzer Freilandmuseum Neusath-Perschen you can learn a lot about rural work and life in times gone by. In the district town of Schwandorf, numerous tours, such as those through the historic rock cellars, offer interesting insights into the city on the river. However, you can unwind in the Bulmare wellness pool - your well-deserved relaxation opportunity awaits you in the beautiful sauna area.
Numerous places along the Naab can be reached by train - so nothing stands in the way of an uncomplicated arrival and departure.

Today was the third and last part of my Upper Palatinate round trip.
The journey started from Etzenricht first along the Haidenaab.
After only a few km it flows into the Naab near Unterwildenau and I then followed this course of the river down to Testing (Regensburg), where it then flows into the Danube.

Actually there is no Naabquelle. It only arises through the confluence of the Waldnaab and Haidennaab near Wildenau.
I had originally planned this point as a starting point. In terms of transport and accommodation, I then decided on Weiden in der Oberpfalz (Seltmann Weiden, Witt Weiden) and that …
