The Monte Faudo loop is a true loop trail, starting and ending in San Lorenzo al Mare. You can typically find parking in or around San Lorenzo al Mare to begin your ride.
While the trail itself doesn't have specific restrictions against dogs, it's a challenging mountain bike route with varied terrain, including technical singletracks and exposed sections. If you bring your dog, ensure they are well-behaved, physically capable of handling the distance and difficulty, and kept on a leash, especially in populated areas or near wildlife. Always carry water for your dog.
The trail offers stunning views of the Ligurian Sea and can be enjoyed during many seasons. However, for the most pleasant experience, consider spring and autumn when temperatures are milder. Summer can be very hot, and some sections might be more challenging after heavy rain.
No, there are no specific permits or entrance fees required to access the Monte Faudo – giro ad anello da San Lorenzo al mare mountain bike trail.
The terrain is diverse and challenging. You'll encounter paved sections, wide dirt and gravel roads with loose stones, and technical singletracks with roots. Some descents, like those towards Cipressa, can be quite rocky and described as 'spaccato' (broken or rough). There are also steep and exposed sections, but trails like 'La Ribelle' offer a more flowy experience.
Yes, Omnia Freeride offers bike shuttle services in the Monte Faudo area, which can be helpful for accessing different parts of the trail system or for specific descents.
The route is celebrated for its beautiful views. You can expect spectacular panoramic vistas overlooking the Ligurian Sea, picturesque maritime pine forests, and olive groves. On clear days, you might even see views stretching from the seashore to the Alps. Notable scenic points include a Roman donkey-back bridge over green water and waterfalls, and the View of Borgo Prino.
Beyond the stunning natural scenery, you'll pass through charming towns like Civezza and near the Saint Brigid's Chapel. The route also takes you past several summits, including Mount Cinque Bourche, Monte Faudo summit, and Monte Cantagallo. You might also spot yellow and red markers for the metanodotto (gas pipeline) in some areas.
Yes, the route intersects with several other paths. You'll find sections that are part of the Anello delle borgate di Dolcedo e del suo bosco comunale, Ciclovia Svizzera-Mare, Ciclovia Tirrenica, Pista ciclabile Prino-San Lorenzo, and Anello di S. Brigida, among others.
Yes, after a demanding ride, the nearby Aregai provides a beautiful bay with a bistro, perfect for relaxation and refreshments. You can also find amenities in San Lorenzo al Mare where the loop starts and ends.
Yes, you have the option to extend your journey to the Monte Faudo summit for even more expansive views. Be aware that the peak can have antenna installations.
Yes, the trail system offers flexibility with several alternative descents that lead to various charming towns such as Badalucco, Pietrabruna, Castellaro, Boscomare, or Lingueglietta, allowing you to customize your ride.
Nice ride, a bit of everything, environment that varies from the sea to the mountains, climbed mostly on a path, dirt road. Descent: natural upper part of the Mountain, then faster Trails, ending with the dh crown. Return show among olive trees.
It starts with the beautiful cycle path by the sea then a few km of asphalt up to Civezza and from there dirt roads and paths begin with many variations up to the top of Mount Faudo, single track descent of medium difficulty but many other possible variations also downhill from easy to difficult
MTB tour from Imperia on roads via Santa Brigida (end of tar road) and on gravel roads to Mt. Faudo 1145m. Descent on various trails to Belissimi and Dolcedo. Approx. 1200 m, descent max. S2.
We have Monte Faudo in view every day. The treeless peak with the transmission masts is somehow enticing. I'm then surprised that some MTB trails are described in the upper area. The last part gets pretty sweaty...combined gravel/concrete track...no shade. But it's worth it! A few horses graze peacefully at the top, the view is phenomenal. Below is Taggia by the sea..the Valle Argentina runs deep down into the Ligurian Alps. In 2019 I came this way and completed the tour in Taggia. Today I finish my day tour in Dolcedo with a beer and panini...😎🍺
