Port Ruciane-Nida

Highlight • Rest Area

Ruciane Nida is a specific place on the route of the Great Masurian Lakes, a bit off the beaten track from the main attractions of Masuria, where there are not so many people and it is much calmer.

From Ruciane towards the village of Zamordeje, we enter the forest complex called Piska Forest - the largest, extending to approx. 100 thousand km. ha, forest complex in Masuria. Located partly on the Masurian plain, half of its area is covered by the Masurian Landscape Park. pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puszcza_Piska

Wiartel Village

Highlight • Settlement

A picturesquely situated Masurian lake next to the town of Pisz, surrounded by Piska Forest. The lake will certainly be appreciated by fishermen, because it is well stocked and provides peace and quiet surrounded by the beautiful Masurian nature. There are small islands in the southern part of the basin. On the south-west bank there is the village of Wiartel, and on the south-east bank, there is Wiartel Mały.
Lake area 178.60 ha, maximum depth 29.00 m (average 4.50 m), length 3.91 km, width 0.79 km.
The lake has a very varied shoreline. It is divided into two bodies of water - southern and northern (Przylasek). Two streams flow out of the lake. One, called the Wiartel Channel, flows into Lake Brzozolasek. The second - Wiartelnica flows into Lake Nidzkie in the south-western part.
The waters of the lake abound in various species of fish, including: eels, pike, bream, silver carp, catfish.

Guzianka II Lock

Highlight • Bridge

Guzianka II will improve traffic on the Great Masurian Lakes by relieving the "old Guzianka", which in the tourist season is crossed by about 15 thousand. units. Every year the number of lovers of relaxation on Masurian lakes increases, which is why it is so important to care for the infrastructure and development of the region's waterways. From June 25 - the day when the Guzianka II lock was opened to tourist traffic, 1000 boats were successfully crossed with the help of the new lock.

Evangelical church in Wejsuny

Highlight • Religious Site

I was covering another kilometer of the planned route and was just passing by this church, so I decided to pop in (at the time I didn't know it was an evangelical church). Just beyond the threshold, I was very kindly welcomed by a lady who offered me a tour of the church and museum, and to listen to its history and the sound of the organ. I was already a bit tired, so I gladly accepted this offer, which I do not regret.
