The information board about the forest fire in Tyresta National Park commemorates the major fire of 1999, which affected around 450 hectares of forest. The area was subsequently largely left to its natural development and today offers a rare opportunity to observe how a boreal forest regenerates after a large-scale fire. Between dead tree trunks and regenerating vegetation, it becomes clear that forest fires not only mean destruction but are also part of the natural dynamics of a forest ecosystem.
