The statue, consecrated in December 1979, represents Saint Anthony of Egypt, also called Saint Anthony Abbot. The statue plays a central role in the local Saint Anthony celebration, organized by the local Saint Anthony Guild. The guild then sells offerings by auction, including a live piglet. In the West, a pig is the attribute of this saint.
