Hiking

The current Hotel and Restaurant Katzenstein can look back on an eventful history. Built in the Third Reich as a castle of the old guard by the labor service on the once bare plateau, it was used and run down as a base by the Americans and then by the "Red Army" after the war. With the expansion of the nearby inner-German border, only reliable people were allowed to enter the border area, and so the hotel became a recreational home for members of the State Security.
