    Hiking

Often overlooked by visitors, there is a large hot spring pool to the right of the trail leading down to the main riverside Buckeye Hot Springs, and a couple of smaller ones. With one nestled in the shade of a large pine tree, the others in the open, the upper pools offer scenic views down to Buckeye Creek and up the valley into the snow-capped Sierra mountains.

    Cycling

One of the best natural, undeveloped hot springs in the Sierra Nevada, Buckeye has several pools built by enthusiasts with rocks and river sand on the northern bank of Buckeye Creek, underneath an overhang formed over thousands of years by minerals precipitating from the hot water emerging about 100 feet higher on the slope.
