The silos near Christianstadt (now Krzystkowice, Poland) were part of the gigantic, top-secret munitions factory of Dynamit AG ("Ulme") during World War II. The facility was built starting in 1939, and production reached its peak in 1943. It manufactured, among other things, bomb munitions and hexogen – thus making it one of the largest explosives factories in the Nazi Reich. Methanol was stored in at least five of these silos – apparently separate from other production areas.
