Historical interpretation regarding this location:
Until the Second World War, residents of Basel and Hemiksem came here to cool off in the concrete swimming pool filled with Scheldt water. The adjacent pavilion served as a cafeteria and bathhouse at the time. The municipality decided to keep the pavilion as a landmark on the Scheldt. Today this place is an idyllic spot in the Kruibeke polders for many hikers and cyclists.
