Didada
July 5, 2025, Parish Church of St. Philippus and Jakobus (Kempenich)

The church's patron saint suggests its great age. It was first mentioned in 1330 in the Taxa generalis of the Archdiocese of Trier. The Romanesque west tower dates to the beginning of the 13th century. The core of the nave, which still stands today, was built around 1470. Around 1728, the choir was enlarged, and a sacristy was added to the south side of the east bay of the nave. Along with other minor alterations over time, the expansion between 1904 and 1906 was the most significant. Under the direction of the Bonn architect Johann Adam Rüppel, the northern aisle was renovated and a southern aisle was added. This created the current four-aisled hall church. In 1919, the western gallery was built from tuff stone in neo-Gothic style.

The parish church of St. Valerius was built in the 13th century as a Romanesque church and expanded in the Gothic architectural style. It has a beautiful altar and ceiling paintings in the canopy.

St. Valerius Wanderath On January 1st, 2022, the parishes of St. Dionysius Kirchwald, St. Quirinus Langenfeld and St. Valerius Wanderath merged into today's parish of Langenfeld St. Jodokus. Until the middle of the 19th century, the town of Wanderath consisted only of a church, vicarage, school and a residential building. From 1913 onwards, a Roman villa rustica was excavated on the site below the vicarage by the then priest Schneider. A Roman grave was also found in the 1950s. Saint Valerius, patron of the parish church, was one of the first bishops of Trier. The church has been rebuilt five times over the years. The following places belong to the former parish of Baar-Wanderath: Ober-, Nieder- and Mittelbaar Freilingen Wanderath book angels Herresbach Virneburg nice Doettingen Eschbach Nitz mill

The ascent between Welschenbach and Wanderath is one of the most beautiful sections of the "Wanderather" dream path. The path is largely close to nature and there are beautiful views of the landscape of the Eastern Eifel ...
