Bike path very narrow directly in front. Be careful when exiting the parking lot.

The former trotting stud farm is now a hotel with extensive grounds. A visit is worthwhile.

At the gates of Lüneburg, on the edge of the heath, is the former trotting stud GUT Bardenhagen. Today it houses a hotel and event rooms in a secluded location, surrounded by 7 hectares of idyllic park and garden landscape

Gut Bardenhagen was created in 1908 through the vision and investment of a Hamburg merchant, and for 30 years it served as a vibrant forum and workplace for many people, breeding and training over 100 trotting horses. Respect and appreciation for the unique ensemble of buildings and the architecturally interesting potential of Gut Bardenhagen gave rise to a desire for a careful and contemporary renovation and revitalization of the estate, taking into account structural and ecological aspects. This led to the construction of a dedicated sewage treatment plant and a new heating system for all buildings, using a wood chip heating system. At the same time, the requirements of historic preservation and fire protection were met, and contemporary aesthetic and functional design were taken into account in the furnishings. Also a filming location for the ARD soap series "Rote Rosen." Source: http://www.gut-bardenhagen.de/de/das-gut/geschichte/
