If you're into brutalism a la Le Corbusier (if you can call it that), then you've come to the right place. I think it's cast in pure concrete. You rarely see something like that and you have to like it.

In 1920, construction began on an emergency church in Planegg. A wooden riding hall, provided free of charge by Countess Tattenbach from Eurasburg near Wolfratshausen, was set up in Planegg as a nave. The high altar was purchased second-hand from Regensburg Cathedral. A small turret with two bells was placed on the roof of the hall. On September 25, 1921, this emergency church was consecrated by Cardinal Michael von Faulhaber. In 1933, a church tower with five bells was finally built. In 1967, plans began to replace the increasingly dilapidated emergency church with a new building. The building, built in 1971/1972, was a stark contrast to the more traditional predecessor. In keeping with the times, a very functional church space was created in the style of the early 1970s. After long discussions, the existing tower was retained next to the new church, but given horizontal blue stripes on a gray background. Since then, the people of Planegg have called him “Ringelstrumpf”.

On the initiative of Cardinal Joseph Wendel and Pastor Alois Leinfelder, the St. Elisabeth parish was founded in 195 and construction of the church began. The many travelers who used the Ostbahnhof at that time were to be offered a Sunday mass and the three other Haidhausen parishes were to be relieved.
