At the sulfur spring, rainwater flows through the sulfur-bearing Poseidon slate. This was formed from deposits of the Jurassic Sea, which was once here 180 million years ago. The water flowing through dissolves the sulfur, thereby creating healing water for external use, which has pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects.

It is a single-nave village church with a tower above the west gable. The original medieval cemetery chapel was consecrated "to Our Lady" on May 18, 1428. Some remnants from this period are still preserved, such as the arched windows with Gothic tracery and the roof truss above the nave. In 1623/24, the current church tower was designed and built by the renowned Württemberg court architect Heinrich Schickhardt. The church acquired its present appearance during the renovation of 1983/84. The church windows are by Gerhard Dreher.
