The ensemble of the gothic parish church and the baroque vicarage, which characterizes the townscape, is the real landmark of Niederwaldkirchen. The church was renovated in the Gothic style around 1400 by Hans Krumauer, who also built the chancel of the Passau Cathedral. On this occasion, the people of Schallenberg also had the Blasius chapel built as a burial church. The beautiful, baroque high altar of the parish church, which is regaining importance as a place of pilgrimage to the Virgin Mary, should not be overlooked when visiting Niederwaldkirchen. In the years 1715-1735 the imposing baroque vicarage was built. It is not known who really was the master builder, but similar dimensions were used as in St. Florian or in the rectory of Ansfelden, which is almost the same age. Source: https://www.urlaubstipps.at

The granite pilgrimage route used to pass by the church. Now the new route was routed directly through the cemetery around the church. Rightly so, I think.
