The walls mainly seem to be an experimental space for local, unknown graffiti artists (for which they are of course intended). Apparently these walls are not yet well known among street art artists. The site is not even included on the reference site for legal graffiti walls: https://www.legal-walls.net/

Work by DZIA, an Antwerp street artist who clearly has a preference for foxes and birds (and sometimes playfully combines both). Here a chicken appears to be catapulting her own egg. More information: www.dzia.be

At this location you have a beautiful view of Nielderbroeck, which was diked in the 10th - 11th centuries. The entire area was used in the Middle Ages to extract peat for fuel. The Korte Hameldijk protected this new trouser against the open waters of the Wullebeek (named after the Wiel, the mouth of the Rupel in the Scheldt). The peat from the trout was shipped to the "amers" (mooring places) on the Korte Ameldijk. Afterwards, the Rupeldijk was completed and the Wullebeek drained via the Nielsesluys (before 1298). The water puddles at the foot of the dike are called "wheels" and are remnants of washouts during dike ruptures. part of the Nielderbroeck is now a nature reserve known as 'Het Nielsbroek'. The Rupel with its salt marshes outside the dike partly formed the border between Flanders and Brabant. At the end of the Rupeldijk, near the Langwiel on the Rupelstraat, was the more than 1000 year old Nielderveer.

De Laarkapel in schelle The tour of the Laarkapel depicts the seven sorrows of Mary. The place of worship, dedicated to the Mother of Sorrows, dates back to the 16th century, until 1831 the chapel was the private property of the owners of the Laarhof Castle!
