The Torre degli Upezzinghi, also known as Torre di Caprona, is a striking structure located on a rocky spur in the municipality of Vicopisano, in the province of Pisa. Although it is a 19th-century copy erected by the Upezzinghi family, it stands on the site of an ancient medieval castle dating back to the mid-11th century and dismantled by the Florentines in 1433. This place is famous in Italian history and literature for being the scene of a celebrated battle in 1289 in which the young Dante Alighieri participated, who later expressly mentioned the siege of Caprona in the 21st canto of the Inferno in the Divine Comedy.

An elderly gentleman from a bygone era, with a jacket, bow tie, fedora, and walking stick, looks up to observe a young artist on scaffolding who, to the rhythm of hip hop music, frantically traces strange figures on a wall with a brush. He watches, stunned, for a few minutes, then leaves the strange encounter behind and walks away: before exiting the scene, someone asks him if he appreciates it, and he shakes his head no with his index finger. This is how the short documentary by director Andrea Soldani concludes. Conceived as a music clip (the kind that young people a few decades ago devoured, so much so that they were often remembered as the “MTV generation”), it bears witness to the extraordinary genesis of the work Tuttomondo, perhaps the most famous mural in Italy, which Keith Haring (Reading, 1958 – New York, 1990) created in Pisa in 1989. It almost seems like a metaphor for the past giving way to the future, and in fact, the entire operation seems to take on these values of comparison.

The Church of San Michele degli Scalzi is an ancient Catholic place of worship located in the eastern area of Pisa, famous above all for housing one of the city's three leaning bell towers. Documented since 1025 as an oratory, the current complex dates back to the second half of the 12th century, when it was rebuilt to house the Pulsan Benedictine monks (commonly called "Scalzi"). It is located in a quiet and evocative position along the Arno River, adjacent to the viale delle Piagge.
