The imposing signal tower was built on the foundations of the former keep of a former castle and has stood proudly on the plateau for over 500 years. Those who conquer the 68 steps of the narrow spiral staircase are rewarded with a sweeping view of the Kulmbach region, extending to the Franconian Forest, the Fichtel Mountains, and the Thuringian Forest. Looking south, one can even see as far as the high plateaus of Franconian Switzerland.

Traces of prehistoric and early historic fortifications can be found on the Turmberg. Local historians consider these fortifications to be of equal importance to those on the Staffelberg and comparable to the Walberla near Ebermannstadt. Numerous illustrated information panels explain that the still visible traces in the terrain are remnants of former Celtic walls and gate structures. The panels also discuss finds discovered on the Turmberg, including a bronze arm ring over 2,400 years old.

Unfortunately, we couldn't enjoy the view during our visit in December because thick fog covered the landscape. However, it's definitely a good place to rest, and a sign indicates exactly where the view extends.
