In a square in front of the Protestant community center, on the corner of Bahnhofstraße, stands a monument commemorating the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71, inaugurated only in 1907. The mighty, square monument made of shell limestone contains four round columns in the middle section and stands on a concrete base in the middle of a flower bed. The upper end tapers to a point with a bronze eagle at the top. On the front, the place names of the battles are inscribed at the top, the place and date of construction at the bottom, and the names of the fallen, war participants, and soldiers in reserve on three sides in red Art Nouveau script. Inscriptions: Front side Above: GRAVELOTTE METZ ORLEANS MAULNES MONTLIVAULT BLOIS Below: ERECTED IN MEMORY OF THE CAMPAIGN 1870-71 BY THE COMMUNITY OF BIEBESHEIM 1907 Names of the Fallen: 1870-71
