Monument dedicated to the winner of the first Tour de France, Maurice Garin, originally from Chez-les-Garin (a group of houses above Leverogne, part of the municipality of Arvier) who then emigrated to France (and became a naturalized French citizen, so much so that he is listed as such in the roll of honour) to work as a chimney sweep.

A small village located at the start of the Valgrisenche climb; interesting fact: this is the birthplace of Maurice Garin, winner of the first Tour de France.

A wonderful little mountain hike! It starts in the wonderfully quiet village of Les Combes, where you can admire beautiful, traditional houses and a small chapel, as well as a museum honoring Pope John Paul II. The hike initially climbs very steeply, but almost always through the forest, with some flat sections as well, so you can easily reach the summit in about an hour. Once at the top, a wonderful mountain panorama stretching all the way to Mont Blanc opens up. You can enjoy a leisurely picnic at tables and benches before continuing down the beautiful path or hiking even higher.

Recent studies have shown that the castle was built in its current appearance around 1275, although the toponym Castrum Argenteum appears as early as 1176. The castle is accessible on foot, in a quarter of an hour, from the small road that starts from the bridge over the Dora Baltea in the town center of Villeneuve.
