We actually planned to cross the mountain from here in mid-May and hike to Alagna Valsesia (highest point at about 2600m). From 2020m, it was impossible to go any further due to the snow! We had to turn around, hike back to Quarrazza, and take a rather inconvenient public transport route via Domodossola and Novara to roughly where we wanted to go (instead of 25km over the mountain, it was about 125km by car or about 6 hours by public transport). So carefully consider the time of year and what equipment you plan to use for this hike. It's extremely dangerous with regular hiking gear and definitely not possible if there's snow on the trail!

In 2024, the Alpe Colma was unfortunately closed. It is necessary to descend. Even if the climb is long and arduous, you can enjoy the beautiful path down

For overnight stays it is always better to call 3478659385 or send an email for reservations. Location where three valleys meet. Location has always been a strategic place in the past. Trade was literally carried on at a high level here. Historical explanation: A prime location at an altitude of 1800 meters where trade was conducted at a high level for centuries. The location at Lake Baranca was traded from the three valleys that converge here. At this commercial building 'Albergo...' was the center of the marketplace. Take your time to think back in time. Hear the braying of the donkeys... Enjoy the sales pitches. It's a busy place here when the merchandise has changed hands and the goods are loaded on another donkey into the other valley, on their way to a new marketplace in the valley below. We can no longer imagine trading at a high level of this order. Still a place to muse and fantasize.
