The Dessau Town Hall Square (Dessauer Rathausplatz) is a central hub for the city of Dessau-Roßlau and houses the Dessau Town Hall, which is considered a landmark of the city. The history of the town hall dates back to 1336, when it was transferred by Princes Albrecht and Waldemar. The town hall has undergone several significant renovations and extensions, including the extension carried out in 1882/83 and the holiday rooms built in 1901. Despite the numerous additions and renovations, the space was no longer sufficient, and in 1899, the foundation stone for the new building was laid. The new building was completed in 1901 and is an example of Art Nouveau architecture.

The Reinharz water castle, nestled amidst forests, resembles a fabulous fairytale castle. The castle park with its surrounding water areas invites you to linger with its rare tree population. Heinrich von Löser, the hereditary marshal of Saxony, had a representative water castle with a baroque park, a castle pond, and a brewery pond built between 1690 and 1701 to appropriately accommodate the nobles during hunts in the Dübener Heide. Brown coal mining at the Bergwitz open-cast mine ceased in 1955. In the 1960s, the spoil heap was recultivated and the slopes were landscaped. Simultaneously, the remaining pit was flooded by natural inflow. The lake is fed by groundwater and rainwater. It drains into the drainage ditch via an overflow structure.
